Guided by sound artist Tessa Ann,Crystal Caves: An Underground Sound Journey invites you to connect with the natural acoustics of the Marble Arch Caves through the pure tones of crystal bowls before immersing in a live sound bath in the Cave Explorer Virtual Room, enhanced by soft, cave-inspired visuals.
This meditative experience blends sound, silence, and imagination within a remarkable natural setting, inviting each participant to listen deeply, reflect, and reconnect with the rhythms of the earth.
What to Expect
This immersive, two-part event unfolds as follows:
Part One – Within the Living Cave
Your journey begins deep inside the Marble Arch Caves, where gentle lighting reveals the natural markings and formations on the cave walls. Tessa will guide you through a sound-led exploration using crystal bowls, allowing the cave’s resonance and echo to shape the sound naturally.
This mindful sound walk and journey invites stillness, curiosity, and connection as you experience the caves as a living, breathing soundscape.
Part Two – The Inner Sound World
Returning to the surface, you will continue your experience in the Cave ExplorerRoom. Here, you’ll relax into a live sound bath accompanied by cave-inspired visuals. Using singing bowls, chimes, voice, and tonal and percussive instruments, Tessa creates an evolving soundscape that mirrors the tones and textures of the caves.
The sound bath offers a deeply restorative space for rest, integration, and relaxation, helping you absorb the sensory impressions of your underground journey.

Marble Arch Caves is a living natural environment, and access to the cave system is occasionally affected by weather and water levels.
Where full cave access is available, Crystal Caves will take place as described above.
Should cave conditions affect full access to the cave system, Crystal Caves will be delivered in an alternative format using available areas of the Marble Arch Caves site. This may include guided listening experiences, sound-based exploration of the cave environment and surrounding landscape accessible to us on the day, and an extended sound and listening experience within the Cave Explorer Room.
Any alternative format will be designed to honour the spirit of Crystal Caves while responding to the unique conditions of the cave environment on the day.
By booking this experience, you acknowledge that Crystal Caves takes place within a natural environment and that the format may adapt in response to cave conditions.
Accessibility
Cave Tour includes steps, uneven surfaces, and low lighting in places. There are 154 steps on access/exit of show cave.
The pace will be slow and mindful, with pauses along the way to ensure safety and comfort.
Not suitable for wheelchairs and may not be suitable for those with limited mobility or significant difficulty with steps.

Duration: Approximately 3 hours (including transitions and comfort breaks)
Capacity: 16 participants
Suitability: Ages 16+ (under 18s must be accompanied by an adult)
Sound levels: Natural sound levels within the caves cannot be controlled and may vary. At times, rushing water or echoes can be quite loud. If you are sensitive to sound, please bring decibel-reducing ear plugs or ear defenders for comfort.
What to bring: Warm clothing and suitable footwear for cave conditions, and optionally a blanket and water for the sound bath.

Crystal Caves has been created in harmony with the Marble Arch Caves UNESCO Global Geopark and the Embrace a Giant Spirit ethos.
It is a low-impact, small-group experience designed to celebrate the caves’ natural acoustics and beauty while promoting mindful engagement and environmental awareness.

Tessa Ann is a sound artist, facilitator, and creative wellbeing practitioner based in Northern Ireland. She is the founder of The Sound Healing Spa and Sound Space Connect, and an Embrace a Giant Spirit Experience Provider with Tourism Northern Ireland.
Her work explores how sound connects people with place, imagination, and inner awareness. Through experiences such as Sound Journey under the Stars at Armagh Planetarium and Crystal Caves at Marble Arch Caves, Tessa creates opportunities for deep listening, restoration, and connection.
