Some of the words in the book used to describe feelings or sounds may not be familiar to your child. That’s okay — you can experiment with your own words that your child understands best.

• You might describe sounds in ways that match their experiences (“like the sound of rain on the window” instead of “pattering”).

• Use your family’s own expressions or sensory descriptions.
